Most people associate the word impostor syndrome with females, it’s like a second nature ultimately; like saying water and fish. The other word comes naturally to one's mind, inseparable. But is it?

I have asked some of my male friends, even though it does not relate to the large population in the world but still its an opinion, and they said they do feel like an impostor sometimes. The facade that they think they are putting up. I have a friend who has accomplished so much, and the way he plays around with words is like no other. Yet, he is scared to admit his talents and build upon it, improve and thrive. “What? I am not as good as you think I am; you are certainly mistaken. Everyone can write this it’s just plain English, that’s all.” he said and let me tell you it wasn’t plain English and it is not everyone’s cup of tea. Let me also tell you why, no one spent half of their day working to better their writing, reading blogs and articles, following other writers’ works and searching for inspiration, but HE DID!
Maybe I will make it, maybe I won’t but the thing that I need to keep in mind is I put effort into it and the reason I am in this position is due to my hard work.
We need to admit as well as appreciate our successes when it is necessary and I don’t mean you have to be a show-off or anything however when needed to compliment yourself, simply go pat your back and say, “Geez, you are TALENTED!”
From an article that I recently read, it stated that when we put our name when using positive affirmations, it boosts our self-esteem a lot. Instead of saying, “I am smart. I can do this.” Try saying, “Nina is smart and Nina can do this.” I do believe it is true from my own experience. Just the sound of hearing your name plus associating it with accomplishments that you want to achieve helps improve your confidence and create a sense of entitlement towards your goals.
Definitely not a how-to guide to being motivated, simply sharing my thoughts. If you have any suggestions or queries do let me know. Until next time remember this simple mantra, “Why be normal when you can be so much more” xoxo, DBNS~
